Overview

The MikroTik CRS312-4C+8XG-RM 12-port 10G switch is a mid-range switche from MikroTik, available at Centrix Kuwait with full manufacturer warranty. The MikroTik CRS312-4C+8XG-RM is a 1U rackmount 10 Gigabit switch with eight 10G RJ45 ports and four combo ports that take either 10G SFP+ or 10G RJ45, built on the 98DX8212 switch chip. The copper 10G ports are the point. Most 10G switches are SFP+ only, which means buying transceivers or DAC cables for every connection. Here, ordinary CAT6a cabling carries 10 Gigabit directly — far cheaper for server connections, workstations and uplinks within the same building, and it uses cabling you likely already have. The four combo ports give flexibility: use SFP+ for fibre runs between floors or buildings, or RJ45 for more copper, on the same port. It runs RouterOS or SwOS. SwOS keeps it a simple managed switch; RouterOS adds full Layer 3 routing, VLANs and the rest of the MikroTik feature set. Remember that 10GBASE-T over copper reaches 100 metres on CAT6a, but only about 55 metres on CAT6 — check what is actually installed before planning the runs. In stock in Kuwait.
