Overview
The Ubiquiti UniFi Access G3 Starter Kit (UA-G3-SK) is a value-priced access control from Ubiquiti, available at Centrix Kuwait with full manufacturer warranty. The G3 Starter Kit has the UniFi parts for one controlled door: a Door Hub Mini, a G3 Reader and two Pocket Keyfobs. Ubiquiti also lists 10 free one-year Touch Passes with the kit, which let people keep a door pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. It is the simplest way to put one office, store room or villa door on UniFi Access. The G3 Reader goes outside the door. People open it with an NFC card or key fob, their phone (UniFi Endpoint app) or Touch Pass. The Door Hub Mini goes on the secure side, usually above the door or in a nearby cabinet, on the DIN rail that comes in the box. It is powered from a PoE++ switch port, passes power on to the reader, switches the lock, and has inputs for an exit button and a door position sensor. The hub can power a 12 V lock drawing up to 1 A directly. Locks at other voltages connect to its dry relay with their own power supply. Its second PoE output can feed an exit reader on the inside of the door. What else you need: a UniFi console running UniFi Access (for example the Dream Machine Pro or Cloud Key Gen2 Plus), a PoE++ switch port or injector, an electric lock (magnetic lock or electric strike), an exit button, a door position sensor if you want open/closed alerts, cabling and installation. Ubiquiti does not charge a licence fee for UniFi Access. Centrix supplies and installs the complete door. Touch Pass: Ubiquiti grants the 10 free passes once per UniFi Access console, when the first compatible reader is adopted. More passes and yearly renewals are bought from Ubiquiti in the Access app. Fire safety: on an escape route the lock must release when power is lost or the fire alarm goes off. The Door Hub Mini has no fire-alarm input, so use a fail-safe lock and have the fire alarm cut the lock's power.
